Criminal Laboratory Information Management System (CLIMS)
Criminal Laboratories Information Management System (CLIMS) is a complete case management solution integrated with DNA Bank Solution(with real time matching and contamination preventing facilities), Undetermined Archive, document management and Human Resources add-ons. It is a versatile ISO 17025 Ready software system that integrates evidence tracking, analytical results and lab management information to provide a clear view of the overall case. It is a solution for building the technological base to support all of the processes held in Forensic Laboratories. The solution is applied and in use for Turkish Criminal Police Laboratories(2004) and Turkish Gendarmerie Criminal Laboratories(2009). Besides, the project can be used as a baseline to achieve the standards of ASCDL and ISO 17025. The system is offered with our criminal justice experience and a turnkey project which includes installation, training and maintenance options. The key concepts in the system are ;
- With the advanced security options the solution secures all the processes, evidence and case details.
- With the relationship mechanism, all cases related with each other that form a chain can be traced throughout the system.
- Classified and indexed evidence data can be used for advanced reports for special purposes. (Firearms/handguns, document/banknote, drugs etc)
- Barcode integration on evidences, evidence holders, case documents provide tracing capabilities on the material circulating throughout the laboratory.
- All handovered material data is kept in order to trace the handover chain. This improves the security of cases and evidence.
- Solution provides detailed test and analyze routines and reporting facilities based on any group of evidence and any type of analyze. For example shell analysis, DNA type analysis, assessments etc..
- Unidentified Archive Module (UAM) can be used to store unidentified evidence material data. This stored data can be used for future to expose relationships between cases. These kind of relationships can be marked to form a chain between cases. UA module helps to trace and distinguish chained cases.
- System includes a DNA module (DM). DM provides to make some processes and analysis on Mitochondrion, Identifiers , Y-Plex and SGM.
- With the help of Comm_int (Communication&integration) Module, system can gather data from PCR, Electrophoresis, and DNA Isolation devices. In addition, owing to, barcode integration, which is using all samplers and foams, mistakes are kept in minimum level.
- Through Reporting Module CLIMS users define report and analyze patterns. These patterns filled automatically by case and evidence data.
- System can provide advanced reporting and statistical analysis to the users.
